In a nutshell

I find the Discovery Phase of a UX project just as exciting as working on a Hi-Fi Prototype. I really enjoy one-on-one interviews, meeting clients, and gaining an understanding of their thought processes and the rationale behind their actions.

At the same time, I also enjoy setting up and expanding design systems, and working on memorable, pixel-perfect Hi-Fi design solutions to be presented to stakeholders.

I am a team player and a strong believer in the power of collaboration. Activities such as workshops, card sorting, or Crazy 8s usually lead to powerful results — and they can be a lot of fun while strengthening team bonds.

In my spare time, I enjoy cycling with friends, playing tennis, and swimming at nearby beaches.

Milestones

In Oct 2023, I volunteered as a coach for the Prezzee Protege Program, tutoring a protege over eight weeks and providing both theoretical and practical insights into the UX/UI Designer role at Prezzee.

I joined Prezzee, a Sydney-based scale-up in the digital gifting space, in Feb 2022 as a UX/UI Designer for the customer-facing product (Web and App).

At Prezzee, I supported two squads on all matters UX. My focus is on optimising the existing experience through data-driven decisions, as well as identifying solutions for new opportunities.

In Dec 2021, while at Juuce Interactive, I pitched an iOS/Android UX/UI project for a startup based in Switzerland. The pitch presentation and design challenge I delivered won over three competing parties.

In 2021, wanting to explore more user-centric and strategic design, I undertook a six-month course with Academy Xi to transition into a UX/UI Designer role.

In 2007, I moved to Sydney and joined Juuce Interactive. With the decline of Adobe Flash and the rise of the iPhone, I pivoted my skill set to front-end development, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

At Studio Einvoll, working with Michael Holzer, my focus shifted towards digital solutions. I learned Adobe Flash and developed web animation skills.

In Vienna, after an unsuccessful attempt to enter the prestigious Luerzer Master Class, I worked as a Graphic Designer for several studios. I was fortunate to work under Herbert Ellinger for several years, learning all aspects of the print design craft.

I began my career in 2000 in Italy, after completing my HSC and earning a diploma in Graphic Design.

Voices

Sam is an amazing designer skilled in all areas of the experience design spectrum.

As Sam’s UX/UI mentor at Academy Xi - I was able to see him work his magic by conducting research with users, pulling out insights and using those insights to put together wireframes to use to test and learn and ultimately create beautiful, user friendly UI for his users and clients.

Sam always gives his best effort when designing - always iterating and improving his designs to make sure they meet the user’s needs.

He’s is also a big team player and understands that collaboration is important when it comes to design.

Sam is an amazing designer to have as part of your team.
Sam is one of those rare UX designers who genuinely cares — about the craft, the details, the user, and the people around him. His attention to detail and meticulous approach consistently lifted the quality of our work. He never cut corners, always asked the right questions, and held a high bar for what good UX should be.

Beyond his technical ability, Sam has been an incredible colleague, mentor, and friend. He’s generous with his time, thoughtful in his feedback, and deeply invested in helping others grow. Working with him made me a better designer and teammate.

Any team would be lucky to have Sam. He brings not only strong UX thinking and execution, but also kindness, integrity, and humanity to everything he does. I can’t recommend him highly enough.
I had the pleasure of working with Sam for over three years at Prezzee. Throughout this period, he repeatedly demonstrated that he is a talented designer, a reliable colleague, and an amazing teammate.

We worked on several projects together, where Sam prepared prototypes, participated in interviews with me, and often co-hosted sessions, always asking insightful and in-depth questions.

Any team that works with Sam next will gain a loyal, friendly, and highly talented professional. If you have any additional questions, feel free to reach out to me directly.
